Let Us Guide Your Health Journey

Not sure which remedy is right for you?

      Loose Leaf Herbal Teas

Loose-leaf herbal infusions blended from whole flowers, leaves, roots and barks. No tea bags, no dust, no fillers. Every blend is caffeine-free and made from named botanicals you can see on the tin: rose petals, chamomile flowers, lemon balm, nettle leaf, mullein, liquorice root and moringa among them

These infusions work alongside our health ranges, which use many of the same plants as tinctures and capsules. Each blend is formulated by our medical herbalists in London, and every botanical is listed by both common and the traditional Latin name. Making a herbal tea part of your daily routine is a simple step towards better health and well-being.

What's in our Herbal Tea Collection

Fifteen loose-leaf blends, developed by our herbalists with your health needs at the front and centre.

The evening teas are Deep Sleep and Balance, built on valerian, chamomile and passionflower. For the head we recommend Headease which uses wood betony, vervain, feverfew, lemon balm and two mints. For memory & brain power, Focus which includes ginkgo, gotu kola, rosemary and peppermint. Turmeric & Moringa is the earthy one made with turmeric root and whole moringa leaves.

The cold & flu and allergy seasons range includes Breathe and Throat Therapy, built on mullein, sage, cherry bark, Icelandic moss, marshmallow and liquorice, the plants that have been in the British winter cabinet for centuries. Allergy Support uses nettle and elderflower, and most people start it in early spring.

Our Digestion range includes Digestion, Detox and Urinary Support on marshmallow, fennel, dandelion, burdock and nettle leaf. To support you through the ages we recommend Menstrual Support and Meno-Balance on shatavari, sage, lady’s mantle and rose; Male Vitality on maca and nettle root; Joint & Muscle on turmeric, ginger and boswellia.

Whole botanicals hold their aromatic oils far better than the milled leaf used to fill tea bags, and you can see exactly what you are drinking. A heaped teaspoon per cup, allow to steep five to ten minutes depending on the blend. For further advice and guidance, book a consultation with one of our Medical Herbalists.

Herbal tea is an infusion made by steeping flowers, leaves, roots, barks or seeds in hot water. It contains no Camellia sinensis, the plant that black, green, white and oolong tea come from, which is why herbal tea is naturally caffeine-free. The correct term is a tisane, though almost nobody uses it. Ours are blended from whole-cut botanicals rather than milled dust, so every ingredient in the tin is visible.
Yes. Herbal tea contains no caffeine because it isn't made from the tea plant at all, but from other botanicals infused in hot water. Two exceptions are worth knowing when you're buying elsewhere: blends containing yerba mate or guayusa do carry caffeine, and some "herbal" blends have green tea added. None of our fifteen contains any of them.
Use one heaped teaspoon per cup, pour over freshly boiled water, cover, and steep for five to ten minutes before straining. Covering matters more than most people expect. The aromatic oils in peppermint, elderflower and yarrow are volatile and leave with the steam if the cup is left open. Roots and barks want the full ten minutes; flowers and leaves are ready sooner.
One heaped teaspoon, roughly 1.5 to 2 grams, per 250ml cup. Light, fluffy blends made mostly of flowers and leaves take a slightly more generous spoon than dense ones built on roots and barks, simply because they weigh less for the same volume. Tin sizes vary by blend, from 40g up to 125g, so a tin gives anywhere between roughly twenty-five and seventy cups. Each product page states its own.
Loose leaf tea generally has more flavour and aroma than tea bags, because it uses whole or large-cut plant material that holds its volatile oils far longer than the fine dust used to fill bags. It also lets you see exactly what you're drinking, and it can usually be brewed twice. A further point worth knowing: many commercial tea bags contain plastic in the sealing mesh.
Yes. Whole-cut botanicals have plenty left in them after one infusion, so adding fresh boiling water to the same leaves later in the day gives a lighter second cup. Use the leaves the same day rather than leaving them damp overnight. Tea bag dust gives up almost everything in the first brew, which is why it doesn't work the same way.
The botanicals traditionally used in evening blends across Western herbal practice are valerian, passionflower, chamomile, lemon balm, skullcap and wild lettuce. Most are taken as an infusion in the hour before bed. Our Deep Sleep brings together skullcap, passionflower, lemon balm, peppermint and wild lettuce. Balance is the gentler of the two — chamomile, lemon balm, tulsi, vervain and rose petals. Both are caffeine-free.
Most herbal teas are made for daily drinking, though some contain botanicals that carry duration limits or pregnancy cautions, so it's worth checking the individual blend rather than assuming. Across our range, Urinary Support is for short-term use only, and the blends containing liquorice root carry their own limit. Feverfew, motherwort, raspberry leaf and barberry all appear somewhere in the fifteen and carry pregnancy cautions. Guidance is on every tin, and our Medical Herbalists work with pregnant and breastfeeding clients regularly — you can book a consultation.
