Herbal Face Cream and Sensitive Skin Remedies

If you require sensitive skin remedies, our formulations provide gentle relief without harsh synthetic additives. This chemical-free skincare approach includes soothing herbal balms and body oils for targeted support.

On the face. Rosehip Face Oil has two ingredients and Sea Saviour has eleven. Hydrating Cream contains no essential oils making it the ideal choice for overly sensitive skin.

On the body. Calendula Oil is the gentle golden one, and Skin Saver Balm works from a jojoba and coconut base with fifteen botanicals infused through it.

Hair and mouth. Herbal Hair Oil follows the Ayurvedic practice of regular scalp oiling. Peppermint Mouthwash Oil is an oil-pulling blend older than most of the plants in it and comes from the traditional oil-pulling method of Ayurveda.

Our range is vegan and free from mineral oils, paraffin or artificial colourants, and every cosmetic is safety-assessed. The creams carry a preservative system, as any water-containing product must do.

Several products contain nut oils, and some contain botanicals with specific guidance including comfrey and St John's Wort. Full ingredient lists are on every product page. Patch test 24 hours before first use.

FAQs

Herbal skincare uses plant material, infused into oils, extracted, or pressed from seeds, as the active part of a formulation, rather than synthesised actives or petroleum-derived bases. In practice the distinguishing features are usually a short ingredient list, plant oils instead of mineral oil, and botanicals named individually rather than hidden under "parfum".

Not automatically. Natural doesn't mean gentle, essential oils are among the more common causes of skin sensitisation, and plenty of plants are irritating. What actually helps is a short ingredient list, no fragrance and a patch test. Our Hydrating Cream contains no essential oils at all for this reason.

An oil is oil alone. A cream is an emulsion of oil and water held together by an emulsifier, so it needs a preservative. A balm is oil set with wax and contains no water, so it doesn't. Oils absorb and seal, creams deliver water and feel lighter, balms sit longest and suit targeted use.

Anything containing water does, without exception. Water allows bacteria, yeast and mould to grow, and an unpreserved cream becomes unsafe well before it looks or smells wrong. Products with no water, oils and balms, don't need one.

Apply a small amount to the inner forearm or behind the ear, leave it 24 hours, and don't wash the area. If there's redness, itching or stinging, don't use it. Do this with anything new, and particularly with anything containing essential oils.
