An Ayurvedic Scalp & Hair Oil of Amla, Bhringraj & Rosemary
Herbal Hair Oil is an Ayurvedic oil for the scalp and hair, used as a weekly overnight treatment or a daily finishing oil. Amla, bhringraj, gotu kola, horsetail and rosemary are slowly infused into six cold-pressed oils, including black seed, jojoba and sesame. It leaves hair soft, glossy and less prone to breakage, and suits straight, wavy, curly, coily and Afro-textured hair.
The Herbs
Herbal Hair Oil brings together three groups of Ayurvedic herbs and oils traditionally used for scalp and hair care. Strengthening herbs support the roots and help fragile strands resist breakage. Nourishing oils condition the scalp and soften dry hair. Refreshing essential oils invigorate the scalp during massage. Together they make an oil for stronger, softer, healthier-looking hair.
To Strengthen
Amla (Emblica officinalis): A classical Ayurvedic herb traditionally valued for strengthening the hair roots and keeping hair naturally strong and lustrous.
Bhringraj (Eclipta prostrata): One of Ayurveda's most respected hair herbs, traditionally used to support healthy hair growth and strengthen fragile strands.
Horsetail (Equisetum arvense): Naturally rich in silica, traditionally used to strengthen the hair shaft and reduce breakage.
Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica): Traditionally used to support healthy scalp circulation and nourish the tissues around the hair follicles.
To Nourish
Black Seed Oil (Nigella sativa): Rich in essential fatty acids that nourish the scalp, moisturise the hair and support the scalp's natural protective barrier.
Sesame Oil (Sesamum indicum): A traditional Ayurvedic oil for nourishing a dry scalp and conditioning the hair.
Jojoba & Castor Oils: Condition dry or brittle hair and help keep the scalp comfortable and balanced.
Musta & Sage (Cyperus rotundus, Salvia officinalis): Antioxidant-rich herbs traditionally used to help maintain the hair's natural colour and protect hair and scalp from everyday environmental stress.
To Refresh
Rosemary & Peppermint Essential Oils: Traditionally valued for invigorating the scalp and encouraging healthy local circulation during massage.
Lemon & Cypress Essential Oils: Help keep the scalp fresh and balanced, with a clean, uplifting aroma.
Texture & Scent
Texture: Light and fast-absorbing, sinking into the scalp without a heavy or greasy finish.
Scent: Fresh and herbal, led by rosemary and peppermint, with bright lemon and cypress and a soft ylang ylang note.

A Hair Care Ritual
Massage the Scalp: Five to ten minutes, several times a week.
Go Gently with Heat: Lower styling temperatures and fewer tight styles.
Wash Kindly: A gentle shampoo, and not too often if the scalp runs dry.
Eat for Healthy Hair: Leafy greens, pulses, nuts, seeds, eggs and oily fish through the week.
Warm a little between your palms, work it into the scalp with your fingertips, then through the lengths. Leave it for at least an hour, or overnight with a towel on the pillow, then shampoo out. Twice a week suits most people.
Our Herbal Hair Oil is a practitioner-formulated botanical treatment designed to nourish the scalp, strengthen fragile hair, reduce breakage and improve overall hair condition. Regular use helps support healthy hair follicles, soften dry hair, tame frizz and leave hair looking fuller, smoother and naturally more vibrant.
Rosemary is the herb most associated with hair and scalp care in Western and Mediterranean herbal tradition, and it is the leading infused botanical in this oil, alongside nettle, horsetail, sage and gotu kola.
Not once it is washed out, though it does need a proper shampoo — this is a rich oil. Use less than you think, concentrate it on the scalp, and shampoo twice if needed.
Many people do. Apply it to the scalp rather than the lengths, leave it on, and wash out. If a scalp problem persists, see your doctor or a pharmacist rather than treating it at home.
Our formulation contains traditional botanicals including Gotu Kola, Bhringraj and Amla, which have long been valued for supporting healthy scalp circulation, nourishing the hair follicles and strengthening the hair roots. While it is not intended to treat medical causes of hair loss, regular use helps reduce hair breakage and supports healthier, fuller-looking hair over time.
Yes. Our Herbal Hair Oil is suitable for straight, wavy, curly, coily and Afro-textured hair.
If you have fine hair, we recommend using a smaller amount, focusing mainly on the scalp or the ends of the hair. For thicker, curlier or coily hair, the oil can be applied more generously as an overnight conditioning treatment or used as a leave-in moisturising oil between washes.
The 50ml suits shorter hair or occasional use; the 100ml works out considerably better value if you oil your hair weekly or have long hair.
Yes. Our Herbal Hair Oil is suitable for both men and women. Whether your hair is short or long, it can be used to nourish the scalp, condition the hair and support healthy-looking hair as part of your regular grooming routine.
Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, and anyone with high blood pressure, heart or kidney disease, or low potassium, because of the liquorice. Children under two. If you take prescribed medicine, particularly for blood pressure or a diuretic, speak to your doctor or one of our Medical Herbalists first.
