Let Us Guide Your Health Journey

Not sure which remedy is right for you?

Which Herbal Traditions Does the Range Draw On?

      Ayurveda and Western Herbal Medicine

Two traditions run through the whole range:

From Ayurveda come ashwagandha, shatavari, tulsi, gokshura, brahmi and the classical infused oils, Mahanarayan and Nasya, whose recipes are older than most European countries. Ayurveda is one of the oldest continuously practised systems of medicine anywhere, with texts going back well over two thousand years, and it remains a formally regulated profession today.

From Western herbal medicine come valerian and chamomile, meadowsweet and marshmallow, mullein, elecampane, nettle, vervain and elderberry: the hedgerow plants, the ones your great-grandmother might have known by sight. Most grow within a few miles of anywhere in Britain, and several were traditionally kitchen or famine foods.

A few travelled. Echinacea came from the North American prairies. Maca and damiana from the Americas. Baikal skullcap and bupleurum from Chinese practice, named for a Siberian lake and used as huang qin and chai hu respectively. Rhodiola from the Arctic.

What connects them is method rather than origin. Whole plants rather than isolated compounds. Infusions given weeks rather than minutes. Every botanical named in full on the label, in both common and Latin names.

      Which Format Should You Choose?

Six formats exist because six kinds of life do. The plants overlap across them, so the format is usually the decision that usually matters.

Teas suit people who want the ritual, the kettle, the tin, the brewing time. Fifteen blends, all caffeine-free.

Tinctures suit people who need a herbal tonic that is absorbed quikly and stores for longer.

Capsules suit people on the go.

Infused oils and balms work on the skin first, the oils poured and massaged, the balms set with candelilla wax for targeted use.

Powders stir into a morning drink or a finished dish, and bath salts to place in the bath.

The format you'll still be using a few weeks from now is probably the right one for you. If you're not sure which that is, book a
consultation with one of our Medical Herbalists
      .

Around seventy, across loose-leaf teas, tinctures, capsules, infused oils, balms, syrups, powders and bath salts.
All of them. The balms use candelilla wax rather than beeswax, and the capsules use HPMC plant cellulose rather than gelatin — the two places where natural ranges most often aren't.
In Britain, in small batches, by our herbalists.
Ayurveda is a system of medicine originating in the Indian subcontinent, with texts going back over two thousand years and a formal regulated profession in India today. Western herbal medicine draws on European traditions, from Greek and Roman writing through medieval monastery gardens to the modern profession. They use different plants, different frameworks and different diagnostic approaches — though a good many plants now appear in both.
Whichever you'll still be using in a month, since the plants overlap heavily across formats. Teas suit people who want the ritual, tinctures those who want something portable, capsules those on the go. Oils and balms work on the skin rather than internally.
Herbal supplements are regulated as food supplements: they must be safe and accurately labelled. A separate category exists — Traditional Herbal Registration, marked by a THR number — for products assessed by the MHRA. Cosmetics are separately regulated and must be safety-assessed before sale.
Yes. Our Medical Herbalists offer consultations and will talk through what might suit you, which is considerably quicker than working through seventy product pages.
