Breathe Tincture is a concentrated herbal tincture for the colder months, taken diluted in water once or twice a day. Elecampane, thyme and marshmallow root are blended with plantain, echinacea and elderflower, made as a whole-herb liquid extract.
The Herbs
Breathe Tincture brings together three groups of herbs traditionally used for the respiratory system. Warming, aromatic roots and leaves help the body clear stubborn mucus from the chest and sinuses. Soft, mucilage-rich herbs soothe dry and irritated airways. An immune herb supports the body's natural defences. Together they make a blend for clearer, more comfortable breathing through the colder months.
To Clear
Elecampane Root (Inula helenium): Traditionally used in Western herbal medicine for persistent chest heaviness and excess catarrh. Its warming, aromatic compounds help the body clear deep-seated mucus and ease a tight, restricted chest.
Thyme (Thymus vulgaris): Traditionally used to support the upper respiratory tract through seasonal challenges, sinus pressure and scratchy throats. Its aromatic oils help soothe a tickly, irritated throat.
Elderflower (Sambucus nigra): A classic herbal remedy for seasonal sinus pressure and fluid build-up. Its flavonoids, including quercetin, help support a balanced response to environmental allergens.

Marshmallow Root (Althaea officinalis): Rich in natural mucilage, which forms a soothing, protective layer over dry, tickly and irritated throat tissues.
Plantain (Plantago major): Traditionally used to calm irritation in sensitive airways and soothe respiratory membranes affected by environmental irritants.

Echinacea Root (Echinacea purpurea): Included for its well-documented immune-modulating properties, and traditionally taken through the winter months to support the body's natural defences.
Why a Tincture?
Unlike tablets or capsules, a liquid tincture delivers whole-herb extracts in a form that is readily absorbed and easy to fit into a daily routine.
Each batch of Breathe Tincture is made by slowly extracting the whole herbs, drawing out and preserving a broad spectrum of their natural compounds, including volatile oils and phytonutrients. The finished tincture captures the full character of each plant.

How to Take: 5ml up to twice a day, before or after lunch and before or after dinner.
Maximum Daily Intake: During periods of seasonal change, up to 15ml a day, taken as 5ml before or after breakfast, lunch and dinner. Do not exceed the recommended maximum daily intake.
To Prepare: Always dilute before drinking. Add 5ml (about 2 - 3 full pipettes, or one teaspoon) to half a glass of room-temperature water and stir gently.
How Long: Take consistently for at least 7 days.

A Winter Ritual
Breathe in the Steam: Add 2–3 drops of Zen Maitri Breathe Essential Oil Blend to a bowl of hot water and breathe in the steam for a few minutes, with a towel over the head.
Keep Warm Drinks Close: Hot water with lemon, ginger and honey, or a cup of Zen Maitri Breathe Tea.
Cook Warming Meals: Broths and soups with garlic, ginger and a little chilli.
Rest Well: Seven to nine hours of sleep, with an extra pillow on nights the throat feels tickly.
