Skin type: Normal, Dry, Oily & Combination (Oily-Dry)
Our New Mother's Bath Salts are a gentle and relaxing way to cleanse, soothe and support your body after birth. This pampering blend combines wonderful healing herbs such as calendula and yarrow, but also lady’s mantle and uva ursi, which support recovery in the pelvic area and the female reproductive system. These bath salts support the healing process and ease inflammation and irritation. They will also support healthy circulation and gently tone and strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor and uterus.
Himalayan salt
Himalayan salt is rich in an impressively wide array of trace minerals required by the body, such as magnesium, iron, calcium and zinc. Soaking your body in this salt is a great way to nourish and soothe your skin. It helps to maintain the skin’s natural barrier, supporting hydration and keeping irritants out. Himalayan salt also enhances skin detoxification, not only through its gentle exfoliating action, but also by absorbing dirt and toxins and thanks to its natural antibacterial properties. It rejuvenates and softens the skin to give it a natural glow and vibrancy.
Epsom salts
Epsom salts are rich in magnesium and sulphate – both very important minerals for the healthy functioning of the body. They have been used for centuries to relax muscles and loosen stiff joints, particularly in the shoulders, neck, back and head. Soaking in a warm bath of Epsom salts is wonderfully relaxing. It can also support skin detoxification and promote better sleep.
Calendula
Calendula is a great ally for new mums recovering from childbirth. It is a gentle but powerful wound healer: it heals and soothes the skin by promoting cell repair. It also acts as an antiseptic, so it can help prevent rashes. This well-loved bright orange flower is often included in herbal skincare recipes. It has anti-inflammatory properties and is rich in antioxidants that protect the skin from damage caused by stress or pollutants.
Yarrow
One of the most widely used medicinal plants in the world, yarrow is a fantastic healer, and very often used to support mothers through childbirth and postpartum. It has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and astringent properties, making it ideal to support the healing process for any wounds or swelling. It is antispasmodic, meaning that it can help to relieve tension and spasms. Yarrow also supports healthy circulation and alleviates pelvic congestion. It also eases and relaxes uterine tension.
Lady’s mantle
Known throughout Western herbal medicine history as a healer of women’s health complaints, lady’s mantle is in our New mother’s bath salts because it helps to tone the pelvic floor muscles and uterus after childbirth. It also regulates hormones and can help to relieve skin irritation, supporting a healthy recovery for the new mum.
Chamomile
The golden yellow flowerheads of German chamomile alleviate inflammation and skin irritation – calming sore nipples for example –, support the natural healing process, and soothe any tension. In addition to its delightfully bright aroma, chamomile is a mild nervous system sedative, which means that it gently relieves tension.
Uva ursi
Uva ursi (or bearberry) is widely used to relieve irritation in the genito-urinary tract, which new mums may be particularly sensitive to. Its antimicrobial, cleansing and astringent (skin toning) properties make it particularly helpful to support you with symptoms associated with urinary tract infections.
Rose petals
Aromatically, the delicate smell of rose alone is enough to calm and fill a busy mind with a loving reassurance that all will be ok. We use rose petals in our new mother’s bath salts because they are perfect for uplifting the mood as well as toning, nourishing and calming the skin. Rose not only strengthens the nervous system and balances the emotions, it is anti-inflammatory, wound healing and astringent, gently helping to tighten and tone the skin.
Lavender essential oil
Lavender essential oil is excellent for calming tension and muscle spasms. Thanks to its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, lavender also protects and soothes the skin, and supports its natural healing process.
Rose geranium essential oil
The sweet and floral essential oil of rose geranium is soothing and balancing. It promotes relaxation and emotional stability. It benefits both body and mind with its ability to clear up restlessness, tension and grief. It gently cleanses the skin with its antimicrobial properties, preventing any infection and bringing a radiant glow to the skin.
Roman chamomile essential oil
Roman chamomile is a gentle, mild sedative that helps to promote relaxation, and calm a busy mind. It has a comforting and calming scent which promotes relaxation and can also help to promote a good night’s sleep.
This product contains himalayan pink salt, Epsom salts, calendula, yarrow, lady’s mantle, chamomile, bearberry, rose, lavender essential oil, rose geranium essential oil and Roman chamomile essential oil.

To enhance the effectiveness of our New Mother's Bath Salts:
-
Prioritise Rest and Sleep: New motherhood can be exhausting. Prioritise sleep and rest. Short naps during the day can be beneficial, especially after a calming bath with the New Mother's Bath Salts, which help relax the muscles and promote better sleep quality.
-
Stay Hydrated: Breastfeeding can be dehydrating. Aim for 2 to 3 litres of water daily, and consider supplementing your hydration with our New Mum Tea, which offers nourishment and balance from within.
-
Nutrient-rich Diet: Your body needs ample nutrients to recover post-delivery. Emphasise whole foods, fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats. If you're breastfeeding, our Nursing Tea has been carefully designed to naturally promote easy lactation, and our New Mum Tea also assists with digestion, ensuring optimal nutrient absorption.
-
Mindful Baths: Beyond just relaxation, warm baths can provide relief from postpartum physical discomforts. Enhance this experience by adding our New Mother's Bath Salts. The calming properties of these salts can help reduce swelling and provide a sense of well-being. Consider also using our New Mother’s Bath Herbs, which can also be used as a sitz bath. A sitz bath involves soaking the perineal area – the region between the rectum and the vulva – in warm water. This practice can provide relief from discomfort following childbirth, surgery, or even after episodes of haemorrhoids. It's a shallow bath that cleanses the area and can also aid in reducing inflammation and promoting healing.
-
Skincare Rituals: Dedicate a few minutes each day to skin care. For example, our Stretch Mark & Scar Oil not only targets stretch marks but offers a moment of self-care. Massaging the oil boosts circulation and aids in better absorption, promoting skin healing.
-
Gentle Exercise and Movement: Once you have the green light from your healthcare provider, consider incorporating gentle exercises into your routine. Simple stretches or postpartum yoga can enhance flexibility and ease muscle tension.
-
Emotional Wellness: Transitioning into motherhood is a monumental shift, both physically and mentally. Remember to carve out moments for self-reflection and mindfulness.
-
Limit Caffeine: Excessive caffeine can be dehydrating and might affect baby’s sleep if you're breastfeeding. Instead, indulge in herbal infusions like our New Mum Tea which helps balance hormones and ensure relaxation.
