Suitable for normal, dry, oily & combination (oily-dry) skin
Our soothing Menstrual Balm brings relief, comfort and pampering to ease period discomfort. It has been carefully crafted to ease discomfort and bloating, which accompany periods for so many women. We have infused a range of warming, relaxing, and antispasmodic herbs into a soothing and nourishing blend of jojoba, coconut and castor oil, and added a range of essential oils to create a beautifully effective and fragrant balm. Massage it onto your lower belly as and when needed. It has a sweet, floral, refreshing and spicy scent from the mix of medicinal herbs and essential oils included.
Jojoba oil
Jojoba oil is an excellent moisturising, nourishing and soothing remedy to the skin. It is rich in antioxidants, which protect the skin. The texture and consistency of jojoba oil is similar to the sebum naturally produced by your skin, so it leaves the skin nourished but with no greasy residue.
Coconut oil
Our cold-pressed, extra virgin coconut oil from Sri Lanka is moisturising and rich in skin-protecting antioxidants, including vitamin E, flavonoids and polyphenols. It is also deeply nourishing and protective. It naturally soothes inflammation and helps prevent infections.
Castor oil
Castor oil is gently moisturising, promotes skin health and soothes tension and inflammation. It improves blood flow and circulation, helping to relieve menstrual discomfort and cramping.
Cramp bark
Cramp bark is great at relieving discomfort, cramps (as hinted by its common name) and improving blood flow — making it ideal for PMS symptoms. It is also helpful for headaches, backache, muscle spasm, restless legs, and to reduce tension.
Jamaica dogwood herb
Jamaica dogwood is a mild sedative which relaxes muscles. It has been traditionally used to relieve menstrual discomfort and to relieve tension. It eases spasms in the uterine muscle.
Chamomile
Chamomile relieves spasms, tension and inflammation. It also enhances mood and helps calm the nerves.
Rose petals
Rose petals are cooling and nourishing to the skin. They are anti-inflammatory and help bring calm, reassurance and relaxation.
Rosemary essential oil
Rosemary enhances and balances blood flow to the area to which it is applied – so it helps soothe inflammation, blockages and pain. It also gently eases tension and has a fresh, uplifting scent.
Clary sage essential oil
Clary sage essential oil helps ease tension, spasms, and menstrual discomfort.
Peppermint essential oil
Peppermint essential oil creates a cooling sensation when applied on the skin. It also improves blood flow and induces muscle and mental relaxation, supporting improvements in the intensity of menstrual discomfort.
Cypress essential oil
Cypress helps improve blood circulation and assists with relieving menstrual cramps. It has a fresh and invigorating scent which is why we have included it in our menstrual balm.
Ginger essential oil
Ginger is a warming circulatory stimulant, promoting blood flow in the pelvic area when applied to it, which helps to ease tension, cramps and bloating.
Lavender essential oil
Lavender lifts the spirits and relieves tension and discomfort. It eases menstrual cramps, and its uplifting and soothing scent creates a sense of calm and relaxation.
Candelilla wax
We use candelilla wax to thicken the balm into just the right consistency and texture for gently massaging onto your lower belly. Candellila wax is very similar to beeswax. We avoid using beeswax in order to offer fully plant-based balms. It is derived from the candelilla plant, which grows in the Chihuahuan desert in Mexico, providing livelihoods to local smallholder producers (“candelilleros”) who sustainably harvest the plant. Candelilla wax is soothing to the skin, does not block pores (making it safe for oily skin) and is naturally rich in beneficial vitamin A. The plant leaf is so full of wax that you can light it like a candle!
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin with potent antioxidant properties, which naturally helps preserve the balm for longer — in addition to its natural nourishing and cleansing properties.
This product contains coconut oil, jojoba oil, castor oil, cramp bark, Jamaica dogwood, chamomile, rose, candelilla wax, rosemary essential oil, clary sage essential oil, peppermint essential oil, cypress essential oil, ginger essential oil, lavender essential oil and vitamin E.
For relief from period pain: Take a small amount of the balm and warm it between your hands. Gently massage onto your lower abdomen in circular motions, applying as needed to ease cramps, spasms, and bloating. For best results, use it at the first sign of discomfort and continue to apply throughout the day as necessary.

To enhance the benefits of our Menstrual Balm:
-
Cycle Awareness: Tracking your menstrual cycle can offer insights into mood changes, energy levels, and physical symptoms. This understanding can enable you to tailor self-care strategies to different phases of your cycle.
-
Gentle Exercise: Movement can alleviate menstrual cramps and promote endorphin release, which acts as a natural painkiller. Activities such as yoga, walking, or swimming can be particularly beneficial during menstruation.
-
Nutrition Focus: A diet rich in essential fatty acids, magnesium, and B vitamins can help mitigate menstrual symptoms. Prioritise foods like:
Leafy greens (for iron and magnesium)
Nuts and seeds (for magnesium and essential fatty acids)
Pulses and whole grains (for B vitamins and sustained energy)
Dark chocolate (for magnesium and mood enhancement)
-
Limit Processed Foods: Reduce the intake of processed foods, caffeine, and sugars which can exacerbate bloating and mood swings.
-
Mindful Relaxation: Engage in practices that ground and centre you. Meditation, deep breathing exercises, or even journaling can provide emotional relief and clarity.
-
Hydration: Water supports the body's natural processes, including detoxification. Drinking herbal teas, such as our Menstrual Support Tea, or simply chamomile or ginger tea, can also alleviate menstrual discomfort.
-
Warmth: Using a warm compress or heating pad on the abdomen can provide immediate relief from cramps.
-
Limit Stress: Chronic stress can exacerbate menstrual symptoms. Aim to find healthy outlets for stress, be it through hobbies, relaxation techniques, or spending time in nature.
-
Sleep: Ensure adequate sleep, as fatigue can amplify menstrual discomfort and mood swings.
